How to use the Grade Calculator

How the calculation works
Required final = [target − current(1 − weight)] ÷ weightThe current grade represents completed work and the final exam supplies the remaining course weight. The same weighted formula projects the course result from an expected exam score.
Example calculation
With an 82% current grade and a final worth 30%, reaching 85% requires (85 − 82 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = 92%. Scoring 90% would project an 84.4% course grade.
How to interpret the result
A required score above 100% means the target is not reachable under the entered weights without extra credit. A score at or below zero means the target is already secured mathematically.
Notes and assumptions
- The current grade correctly summarizes all completed weighted work.
- The final exam is the only remaining graded component.
- Extra credit, dropped scores, and category rules are excluded.
