How to use the Tip Calculator
- Enter the bill amount before any tip is added.
- Choose a tip percentage and enter how many people are sharing the total.
- Check the tip, final bill, and equal share per person before paying.
How the calculation works
Tip = bill × (tip percentage ÷ 100)The final total is the original bill plus the tip. An even split divides that total by the number of people. Displayed currency values are rounded to two decimal places.
Example calculation
On an $80 bill, an 18% tip is $14.40. The final total is $94.40, or $47.20 each when split evenly between two people.
How to interpret the result
The split assumes every person pays an equal share. If orders differ or someone covers the tip separately, use the total as a starting point and adjust individual shares.
Notes and assumptions
- The entered bill does not already include a service charge or gratuity.
- The total is split evenly across all people.
- Local tipping customs and tax treatment vary.
